Loving Yourself - THRIVING Tip #4

Updated: Feb 27

Have you ever heard of the 5 love languages? I am a firm believer in the 5 love languages - this is how we best receive love (what really makes us feel loved). The 5 love languages are: Physical Touch, Quality Time, Words of Affirmation, Acts of Service and Gifts. My primary love languages are Physical Touch and Words of Affirmation. My significant other has a tough time with the latter… but many men do! So we work at it.

You may be thinking, what the heck do love languages have to do with THRIVING? Here’s the thing, when I am not loving myself, who I am, it is extremely difficult to thrive. I have learned that directing the primary languages toward myself helps me love me and helps me to thrive. So for example - Physical Touch - well with yourself…… hahaha… no really - what I have found for me, I love myself more when I take care of myself, take pride in my appearance, and let my body rest when needed. Also, I have learned that I need to be bringing words of affirmation into my daily life. Phrases, quotes, words from the bible, or people I admire. When I have a key motivational/ inspirational phrase for the day, I am much more likely to be energized and excited about me and what I want to achieve.

What are your love languages? When do you feel the most loved? Is it when your significant other does the dishes? Is it when the one you love quietly reaches over and holds your hand? Maybe when a friend or loved one gives you a small gift. When you get to spend uninterrupted time with someone close? How about when you’re told you are loved, significant, or appreciated? Maybe it’s a mix of a few of these. Whatever you love language is, I encourage you to love yourself with that love language. If you’re not sure what your love language is, check out the book The 5 Love Languages by Gary Chapman. Let me know how you best show love to yourself!

In reality, what I have needed the most these days are words of affirmation and inspiration. I have been intentional about having quotes and scripture for each day that lift me up and spur me on. As a gift to you, I have included 2 sets of downloadable inspiration cards. Please download, print, save, share, etc. these sets and use them to encourage you and they have encouraged me!

Let me hear how you’re doing! I am so thankful for you and would love to hear how you’re doing! My email is - shoot me an email!!

Keep Looking Up Ladies!
